WA: Cyclone Billy expected to strengthen as it heads for coast

Cyclone Billy .. packing winds up to 140km/h .. is expected to cross the Kimberley coast tonight.

A cyclone warning continues for coastal communities from Kalumburu in Western Australia
to Port Keats in the Northern Territory .. as the category 1 cyclone tracks west-south-west
towards the East Kimberley region.

The bureau of meteorology says the cyclone may intensify into a category 2 storm before
its expected landfall tonight between Wyndham and Kalumburu.







WA Emergency Services have issued a yellow alert .. advising people in affected areas
to fasten all cyclone screens and secure belongings .. including boats .. caravans ..

trailers .. garden sheds .. outdoor furniture .. rainwater tanks and LPG bottles.

It also advises people to pack a relocation kit to be taken with their emergency kit
if they need to evacuate.
