ALBANY -- Going into Monday, the Fairfield University men's basketball team hadn't won a road game. The Stags were 0-6 heading into Pepsi Arena to play the hottest team in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Siena had been rolling along quite nicely, winning its last five games and sitting alone in third place in the MAAC with a healthy 4-1 record.
Monday, in front of a crowd of 5,171, Siena struggled at times and certainly struggled at the end and was forced to swallow a 60-59 loss to Fairfield.
When it was over, Siena coach Paul Hewitt, collected and calm as always, credited Fairfield's aggressiveness as the key.
