VIC: Grief, tributes amid hope for police killings breakthrough

Relatives have poured out their grief over the still-unsolved murder of two Victorian
police officers a year ago, as investigators say they remain hopeful of a breakthrough.

Two memorial services have marked the anniversary, one held just metres from the spot where
35-year-old Sergeant GARY SILK and Senior Constable ROD MILLER were gunned down as they
investigated a series of armed robberies.

Police chiefs, colleagues and local residents have gathered at a busy intersection in the
south-east Melbourne suburb of Moorabbin to mark the slaying.

A second memorial service has been held at the Police Academy Chapel in Glen Waverley.

Inspector PAUL SHERIDAN, in charge of the shooting investigation, says there's still a
$500,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the killers.

He says he's optimistic about an outcome to the investigation, with 30 personnel continuing
to work on the taskforce from five different squads.
