Vic: Water restrictions save 20 per cent in December

MELBOURNE, Jan 20 AAP - Melbourne residents saved 20 per cent more water than expected
while enduring the second hottest December on record.

The saving - the equivalent of 10,600 Olympic pools or 10.5 buckets per person per
day - follows the introduction of stage two water restrictions in August.

Melbourne's three metropolitan water businesses - City West Water, South East Water
and Yarra Valley Water - said people were taking the water conservation message to heart
