NSW: Trio jailed over truckie s death

Three men have been jailed over the manslaughter of a truckie who died after rocks
were dropped from a highway overpass onto his vehicle.

SEAN ROBERT SUTCLIFFE, aged 27, SEAN MCGOLDRICK, aged 22, and his 19-year-old brother
LIAM MCGOLDRICK had pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of MARK EVANS on August 22, 1998.

The 29-year-old father of two children died almost instantly when two rocks, weighing
more than 13 kilograms, smashed through his prime mover's windscreen as he drove along
the Hume Highway at Menangle Park.

The New South Wales Supreme Court was told the rocks were collected from SUTCLIFFE'S
girlfriend's home, placed on the overpass railings and pushed at traffic below.

Justice MICHAEL ADAMS has jailed SUTCLIFFE -- whom he's found took the leading role
-- for a maximum of five years, three months and a minimum of three years.

The older MCGOLDRICK was jailed for a maximum of four years, five months, while his
brother was jailed for two-and-a-half years to be served by way of periodic detention.
